The Lone Star Championships

The Lone Star Championships are comprised of social contests – focused on improvised, non-choreography dancing. Not only does this showcase amazingly talented social dancers, but it allows you to spend your precious time having fun and not prepping for contests!

Lindy Luck of the Draw

Draws are fun social dance contests where you join as an individual. In the prelims, you will dance with random partners and be rotated in heats; each dancer is judged individually. In the finals, you will randomly draw a partner and be judged as a couple. The finals will be danced in spotlight format.

NEWCOMER – $10 entry fee

The Newcomer division is for dancers who have never placed in a Draw competition and are relatively new to competing. Even if you are new to competing, if you teach swing dance, please enter the intermediate division or higher, to keep this division beginner-friendly.
Prizes: $25 for 1st, $20 for 2nd, $15 for 3rd

INTERMEDIATE – $20 entry fee

The Intermediate division is for dancers who have competed before – potentially placed or made finals. If you teach any style of swing dancing, you must dance in this division or higher.
Prizes: $50 for 1st, $40 for 2nd, $25 for 3rd

ADVANCED – $20 entry fee

The Advanced division is for dancers who have placed or won competitions – potentially even at the national level.
Prizes: $50 for 1st, $40 for 2nd, $25 for 3rd

ALL-STAR – $20 entry fee

The All-Star division is for the most experienced competitors. The lead and follow who place first in finals will instantly enter the Invitational division.
Prizes: $75 for 1st, $50 for 2nd, $30 for 3rd

INVITATIONAL – Invitation Only

The Invitational division is for dancers invited by the organizer.

CROSSOVER DRAW - Placement only

The Crossover Division is a contest in which the 1st and 2nd place winners of both the intermediate and advanced division contests will randomly draw and dance with invitational-level dancers. The dancers will be judged as a couple.
Prizes: Pride

*You may only enter one division per role. If you’d like to enter multiple divisions, you must dance them in different roles (lead vs follow).

Not mandatory, but we do ask that if you compete in multiple divisions in different roles, you don’t allow more than 1 division between competitions. For example, if you are competing as a follow in the all-star, we kindly ask that you enter advanced as a lead. Another example, if you enter advanced as a lead, and then enter intermediate as a follow..
